Foundation Level Accreditation is the first level of APMP accreditation. Foundation Level training and exam sessions are offered by APMP Approved Training Organizations (ATOs). Monitor www.apmp.org/av-108.aspx for scheduled sessions. (Notes: 1. The Foundation Level exam fee does not include payment for accreditation training. ATO training to prepare for the Foundation Level exam runs about $300-$400 per person. 2. The experience requirement for any accreditation level pertains to your proposal experience, not the time you have held an accreditation level.) However, attending training and exam sessions conducted by ATOs is not the only way to earn Foundation Level accreditation. You can study on your own and then take the exam on-line (see http://www.apmg-exams.com/UKPstartF.asp) via the APM Group, a UK organization that administers the accreditation exam and assessment processes for the APMP. The exam is a multiple choice, pass-fail, and open book exam with 75 questions -- you must get 42 correct answers to pass. Once you start the exam, you have one hour to finish it. To prepare for the exam on your own, I recommend that you study the following: · Proposal Guide by Shipley Associates (see http://www.shipleywins.com/products-item.php?item=3), the primary accreditation study guide for Foundation Level accreditation. (The latest edition of the book is the 3rd edition.) You can buy the Proposal Guide as an iPhone or iPad app from iTunes (see http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/shipley-proposal-guide/id398473715?mt=8#). · Accreditation syllabus (see www.apmp.org/fv-408.aspx), which indicates the Foundation Level competencies that you should study in the Proposal Guide.
· Foundation Level Accreditation – Glossary of Terms (see www.apmp.org/fv-407.aspx).
To prepare, I also recommend that you take a six-question sample exam available on-line (see http://www.apmg-exams.com/UKPSampleInstr.asp). However, I don't think this short exam is a true test of one's ability to pass the real exam. If you would like on-line training to prepare for the on-line exam, you can get e-training from Shipley Associates, an ATO. (For info about this e-training, see www.shipleywins.com/products-item.php?item=12.) You would pay for and take this e-training, and then arrange to take and pay for the on-line Foundation Level exam on your own. For more info about preparing for and taking the Foundation Level exam, see www.apmp.org/ca-189.aspx. If you have any questions about the APMP Accreditation Program, please contact Chuck Keller, APMP Accreditation Program Director (accreditationdirector@apmp.org). |
